Popolo Catering Employee Spotlight: Tasha Puerta Melgar

We would not be one of the premier catering companies on the Central Coast without the dedication and hard work of our outstanding staff. This month, I’m thrilled to shine the spotlight on our incredible team member, Tasha Puerta Melgar. 

 Working at Popolo

Tasha has been employed for 4 years enlisted originally for catering support. She has been the Sales and Event Administrator at Popolo Catering for 3 years. She has grown and developed ever since! If you have called, emailed or inquired about date availability, food, service and pricing for your upcoming wedding or event, you have certainly had the pleasure of speaking with Tasha. She’s often the first point of contact for our clients, and we frequently hear how friendly, knowledgeable and kind she is. Tasha fields all communication from vendors, clients’ and employees. She supports our general manager 1:1 by collaborating to assure needs for all events are met, together they assign staffing and being the pulse within the office setting is a key role. She conducts menu tasting and consultation appointments with potential and established clients. Tasha is versatile from the office, to working events as a lead, server or bartender, and she creates beautiful and delicious wedding cakes for our clients as a baker.

Family Connection

Tasha is family—she’s the niece of our owner, Leon, and the daughter of his sister, Birdie. 

Outside of Popolo

Recently, Tasha married the love of her life, JJ, and together they have two cats they adore. Tasha loves to travel. She plans trips whenever she can. She also enjoys baking, reading, and taking on various arts and crafts projects. Tasha has even been considering going back to school to study liberal arts.
